On April 22, the world amid the Covid-19 pandemic commemorated the 50th anniversary of Earth Day, which was first celebrated in New York. Yukihisa Isobe, an artist who has been deeply involved with Echigo-Tsumari, had in fact made a great contribution to the first Earth Day 50 years ago. We asked him to share his thoughts on the past, present and future, as well as his vision for the next Echigo-Tsumari Art Triennale in 2021.

Isobe’s work is exhibited at “Things Entangling,” a collaborative exhibition between the Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo and KADIST (MOT is temporarily closed).
